What can I say, I’m a sucker for contemplative piano pieces. “Hunter,” taken from New Mexico ambient wanderer Theodore Cale Schafer’s debut full-length, Patience, delivers the goods. If you’re like me you might as well just stick this into your veins and let it flow. Lonesome piano strikes echo in the dark, bringing to mind images of empty hallways of long abandoned homes. It’s not quite melancholy, but the mood is most definitely ruminative, and I’m pretty much always ready for that, baby! The rest of Patience follows on that theme, and is engrossing when experienced front to back, but “Hunter” stands out on this stellar record. The album is available now via Students of Decay.
