By definition, a bump in a piece of wax is a bad thing. But when it’s the real vinyl bump — a.k.a. the Melbourne based beat maker — it’s a good thing. His clocked compositions terrain beautifully around the basic math and confines of the beat formula. He just knows what he’s doing. And after going back and back to his latest digital EP, still, placid depth seems to be the overall anchor of his music. Case in point, ”create change,” a forty second nugget from said EP. The track mixes a stic.man verse with a coke-sniffed loop, which, seemingly, sounds like an awful combination, and by all means shouldn’t work, but it does work. And it does so, well.
All of still bumps too, not just “create change”. Each of the ten tracks contains the short sweetness and enjoyment of a sugar high, without all of the anger and frustration from the comedown. And if that doesn’t sell it for you, there are two collabs featured on the EP, the first being with deadxbeat and the second with Chile’s very own Svt Ytne.
So, go ahead and let this EP blast. And don’t worry about the length. You can always press play again.
