It’s been a minute since Moon Glyph’s popped up on my radar. While the relentless misery of the Internet hype machine keeps churning, enduring labels like MG thankfully keep doing their thing, whether you give a shit or not. All you can really do is try to make something that reaches anyone who cares to listen, and the latest Moon Glyph tape had me hooked right away. Chaos Waltz, from Portland/Minneapolis trio Web of Sunsets, is perfect for the warm, clear spring and summer days ahead of us. The group (Sara Bischoff, Sarah Nienaber and Chris Rose) trades singing, songwriting, and guitar duties, and their intimate, hypnotic folk melodies feel like well worn favorites as soon as you hit play. “Crimson” is a little taste of the tape, and it’s the perfect intro if you don’t believe anything I’ve written so far. What can I say, I’m a sucker for acoustic guitars and wistful lyrics. There’s a reason I tear up whenever I listen to Harvest Moon, and it’s the power of the guitar.
