Although he’s put out a number of tapes and digital releases, Free Weed (aka Gnar Tapes/Memories/White Fang dude Erik Gage) is dropping his debut LP, Introducing, at the end of the month via Bad Diet. Most, if not all, of his tracks revolve around hanging out, getting high, and, well, that’s pretty much it. “Light The Night (Unkle Funkle Mix),” which is streaming above, doesn’t stray too far from the formula, but the poppy riffs and surf beat are just too good to pass up. Although he’s been making similar sounding music for a number of years in Portland, it seems like the constant sun of his new L.A. home base is finally reflecting the bright melodies that have been a staple of the Gnar-verse. Introducing is available February 24 in digital and LP versions (including limited edition “green” vinyl).
