Sometimes, you need to get back to your roots and rock out. After a rough day at work, I don’t always want to calm down with some meditative new age. I want guitars, drums, maybe a little reverb, to help me sort out that career angst. Luckily, Austin’s Holodeck feels the same way: after several years of synth-based experimental sounds, ambient/new age tapes, and drone sound collages, “the ‘deck” is dropping a heavy, burning record from Austin trio Grivo.
Elude, which drops November 16, conjures images of the burning sun setting into the horizon while flying down empty desert highways. Call it rock, or call it shoegaze…whichever, this one kicks. Hard. The track we’re premiering, “Cave,” oozes in distorted vocals, reverb-drenched guitars, and pummeling drums. Take a peek below, and get ready for Elude, which can be pre-ordered in both cassette and vinyl editions.
