Genre-filled producer H A N Z is making his way into hearts and minds across America. But really only to smash ‘em out like a jar of jelly and dub the bits into correct order. Like, take “Sink (You Know)” for example: fuzzy wire base, lightly pleasant piano chords, the reverb ping of vocals going to satellite orbit and back, “you know?” Okay, and so it’s “genre-filled,” but to what extent is it necessary to start labeling H A N Z as something more specific than “It’s hard to say.” Fuck it, why do we HAVE to say anything at ALL to label the project as something beyond the music’s presences? I need me some bass in the whip: check. Can there be a solid slice of twitched out sampling? CHECK! Will work with this riddim until I get my faux accent right too. Shit, if “Sink (You Know)” ain’t where your at around 5:32PM upon entering your car after work everyday, there’s a potential for stress overload. H A N Z just wants to help direct you to serenity via sound collage.
Along the same lines as H A N Z’s latest album, Reducer (which made TMT’s Third Quarter Favs list), “Sink (You Know)” has a constant shift to its sound, but this shift brings it into new territory each time, and is borderline infectious. You interested in becoming a host? Listen below and bug out:
