You know, it’s a strange world. My last piece for TMT was also about phones. This time it’s explicitly a single cellphone we’re talking about, but still I find it curious to say the least. Anyway, conspiracies aside: I’m here to tell you about Shō’s forthcoming tape Speculations on Belgian — explicitly named — label Audio. Visuals. Atmosphere. It’s coming out on April 6, alongside some other stellar releases as part of the label’s latest batch and the track “Burning Cellphone” — track four of seven; bang in the middle — is a nice taste of what’s coming your way. It’ll be dark, dreamy and full of cryptic, hissy field recordings and intelligible voices (fitting, considering they’re talking at to you through a burning cellphone). Below, watch an Eloise Knights-produced video to get a feel for the release and keep checking the label’s Bandcamp to cop that tape when it drops.
