A proper followup to 2011’s “Storm,” which was a kind of followup to the psych-hop club banger that is Edan and Mr. Lif’s “Making Planets,” Cut Chemist’s “Metalstorm” finds the two Middle East basement-bred word-zards once again wrecking and reconfiguring matter over Cut Chemist’s extragalactic-exoplanet orbital Vox Populi turntablism. Reading sequences like that as copies of copies misses the point/fun/telescopy. To be fair though, I misread “Metalstorm” as “Maelstrom” in an early draft.
Die Cut, Cut Chemist’s first proper solo album in over a decade, drops March 2.
