Yesterday, my hairdresser told me about “something he read online.” Online is a great source of info, no doubt, but… next time, please be more specific about your sources, dear hairdresser.
Anyways, apologies, here is what he told me: apparently, bees are dying because of our cell phones. A quick Google search seems to confirm that he may have in fact not been lying/deluded — two separate studies conducted in Switzerland and India have found that bees get confused by the waves emitted by our cell phones.
They lose track of where their hive is, they produce less honey, the queen lays less eggs - they’re all over the place. And I mean, yeah, if bees disappear, we’re all gone. So unless our phones turn into rocks soon, we may be screwed.
The good news is that Dialect is on top of things, reminding us of the important things in life (like bees). And his new LP Loose Blooms out this week on vinyl via Forest Swords’ Dense Truth imprint. But yeah, more importantly: bees.
