The promo video for multidisciplinary artist Heejin Jang’s Vista Point cassette is a real cut-up. Subject to and of abuse: various formats of 1992 medical slasher/one-liner travesty Dr. Giggles. Copies of the film are obliterated through saws, fire, hammers, and drills. Typical horror movie tools self-reflexively applied to the film itself. Not even the Dr. Giggles - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is safe. Perhaps making a comment on the disposability of cultural items, or providing a knowing riff on YouTube “Kill Count” compilations, Jang gives the film a taste of its own medicine.
Vista Point is out on the Jimmy Joe Roche-curated tape label Ultraviolet Light.
