“White Bed,” the unsettlingly beautiful second single off Austin-based folk-oriented songwriter Jess Williamson’s second album, Heart Song, which was released late last year, is a perfect showcase for what makes her such a formidable, and truly original, folk artist. Taking its genre’s conventions, and only slightly, subtly subverting them to unorthodox ends, “Bed” sounds equally chilling, bittersweet, recondite, and so much more, in just under four minutes.
