To suggest I’m “quietly obsessed” with Mpala Garoo is a WILD understatement. So, without further ado, lemme grip from the side-project realms of shen’ ming:
First of which flicks in like that haunted dub nobody found prey back upon them like “tiger tiger.” Paws imprinting feet-tall grasslands. Eyes like cue-balls on the low-lid: focused. Ready to pounce at any movement of flee. A mane brushed with rib bones like xylophones, sounds plucked from the skeleton with each back rubbing stretch. Trickles harmoniously peaceful and pensive in a pond just feet from the hunted. “tiger tiger” is a meditative jam that brings suspense to a clam atmosphere.
“licht macht feuer” is shen’ ming’s second offering here, and something that’s much more kindling than a roaring bon. shen’ ming here starts off with pins and needles, some lint and paper… just enough to ignite, but will need a few gusts to get going. Throughout “licht macht feuer,” sticks are placed above this tuft of nest to quickly catch a wick from the below flame, eventually placing a tee-pee of branches upon the mountainous, uncontrollable warming growth catching all in a white/blue/red/orange sculpture of heat. Feel the flames.
