Now that we’ve all OD’d on Cocaine Daughter, it’s time for OESB to ring in the Monday-after (originally released in 2015, on December 31 to be exact) with Surface To Air Missive’s power-pop spectacular: Third Missive. As Surface To Air Missive is technically a one-man recording operation (i.e., Taylor Ross, shake hands), listeners can see in the videos above (“Electric Swan”) and below (“Going Out”) that there’s definitely a touring band to back up the nods experienced in Third Missive, so be on the tour-prowl. Yet, for now, shit has GOT to simmer, because sometimes we all need a vacation from our vacation, holiday or not. So let’s grip a bit of Tallahassee sunshine.
Sorta picking up where OESB left off with Ducktails and Rangers releases, including the pop-music melt vibes of Alice Cohen and Mirage, Third Missive satiates listeners from waking up through the afternoon to their commute home. Surface To Air Missive really brings the dazed vibe strong, but weaves intricate song writing with masterful instrumentation that keeps you going with the gusto of a tea bag, and a kick of cocaine. Not that I’m a gambling man either, but I’ll bet you the worldwide head nodding brought on by Third Missive will look so agreeable that acts of kindness will blossom throughout the Earth. Everyone is right now. Like having complete closure on something you figured would never be amendable, while ensuring fate as a sealable satisfaction. The secret to life is merely not thinking about it as much as we all do. So don’t think and grip Surface To Air Missive’s newest LP Third Missive out now on OESB, and listen below until Bandcamp reminds you they’re fascists (free DL there, and iTunes availability on January 7):
