The Netherlands’ ever-experimental and eclectic REWIRE Festival has announced the first round of artists slated to perform. I almost opened this story by writing “In a city perhaps best known for International Criminal Court proceedings, it would be a CRIME to miss this festival!” But then I decided against it. You’re welcome. Let’s say this: The Hague, the beautiful, culture-driven capital of the province of South Holland, plays host to some of music’s most innovative names when REWIRE returns for a second year. From November 2-4, attendees can revel in what organizers call a “program full of darkness and anxiety.” So, let the bad times roll!
Bringing the noise, the funk, and the gnashing of teeth will be former Yellow Swans dude Pete Swanson and Hyperdub’s much-ballyhooed Laurel Halo. Also on board are Black Rain, Nosaj Thing, H-SIK, FilosofischeStilte, Deaf Center, Alex Smoke, Rocketnumbernine, patten, and Halls, with more to be announced soon. Organizers hint that the next round of names may be a bit more “indie-oriented.” A small amount of €25 Early Bird Weekend tickets will go on sale Monday, July 23 via the REWIRE Festival website.
