Not-so-fresh on the heels of his 2014 album Things Are Really Great Here, Sort Of…, the nevertheless PERPETUALLY FRESH whistling, strumming, Illinoisan songsmith Andrew Bird is about to capture the hearts and minds of America once again. And let’s face it. You love Andrew Bird. So do I. He’s just so charming! And here’s how he’s gonna do it.
Bird is embarking on an adorable full-band world tour in March. Well, actually, the run will kick-off with with a few solo dates in 2015, which include four sold-out Chicago shows at 4th Presbyterian Church for his now-annual Gezelligheid shows (started in 2009) and a Crosslinx Festival appearance with a supergroup comprised of Bird, Glenn Kotche, and Neil Finn. There’s also a December 11 show at The Hideout in Chicago, all proceeds from which will benefit Foundations of Music in Chicago, which will help fund “private lessons for a deserving student at ChiArts.”
Then, as if that’s not altruistic and cool ENOUGH for you, in late March, the handsome troubadour sets off into the sunset with a full-band in tow for the likes of Washington, DC, New York, Philadelphia, London, Brussels, Paris, and more. And wouldn’t you know it? On this spring leg of the tour, “$1 for every ticket sold will be directed to organizations working to end gun violence to build safer communities.” How unassailable is that? You can’t hate that. You can’t. Andrew Bird for president.
Tickets for the 2016 craziness will be available starting December 4 and can be purchased right over here at this affable Andrew Bird web link. Here’s some Andrew Bird music and a list of the dates below. Just stick around and enjoy the man a while.
