Avey Tare released a backwards album with Kria Brekkan in 2007 titled Pullhair Rubeye. Most people hated it (not TMT!). I’m not sure what I think yet, because I have yet to read Pitchfork’s review, but for what it’s worth, I really love Curren$y, Best Coast, and Wavves! Anyway, after having just established my credibility, I am now here to report that Avey Tare is releasing a solo album titled Down There on Animal Collective’s label, Paw Tracks. It’s not backwards, but it’s apparently influenced by crocodiles, which is pretty cool. Definitely cooler than being about beach balls, eh?
Down There is due October 26.
