Antony (of Antony and the Johnsons) has just announced details of her new album, HOPELESSNESS, released as ANOHNI. It’s coming out May 6 on Secretly Canadian/Rough Trade and is produced by Oneohtrix Point Never and Hudson Mohawke. According to the press release, the album is “a dance record with soulful vocals and lyrics addressing subjects including surveillance, drone warfare and ecocide.”
To coincide with the announcement, ANOHI has followed up last year’s single “4 Degrees” with a video for the album’s intro song, “Drone Bomb Me.” The track, described by ANOHNI as “a love song written from the perspective of a young girl in Afghanistan whose family has been executed by unmanned U.S. drones,” comes with a video directed by Nabil and starring Naomi Campbell.
