Arca, the producer behind some of our favorite releases of the last several years, and Shayne Oliver, the boss behind fashion label Hood By Air, have announced a new group called Wench, according to DAZED. With the directing help of longtime Arca collaborator Jesse Kanda, the two have revealed a 15-minute film that previews their incredible, sample-based appropriation project that also features Arca’s undeniable aesthetic and even Oliver’s rapping chops at the end. Artists who get the Wench treatment include Arthur Russell, Tatu, Crystal Castles, Cher, Bone Thugs N Harmony, and Chemical Brothers.
The piece will make its premiere at the Hood By Air SS16 fashion show in New York tomorrow, and an entire Wench album is expected sometime in 2016. Also look out for Arca’s new album, Mutant, later this year, which follows his breathtaking Hood By Air mix called Sheep from earlier this year.
