All the exclamation points are intentional and necessary: Art Brut are coming out with their first album in seven years, with the whimsical title Wham! Bang! Pow! Let’s Rock Out! The song + video for “Hospital!,” the second single from the album (following the title track), features a modern-day Humpty Dumpty, an eggcellent (come on, you knew it was coming) protagonist that just isn’t hard-boiled enough for this world.
The clip is somewhat faithful to the truth; lead singer Eddie Argos spent a month of his life in the hospital three years ago, where he pondered the fragile nature of the human figure. But there’s nothing like an extended hospital stay pumped full of drugs to prepare the songwriting chops – sunny side up or scrambled?
