As we all know, after taking a 16 year break — in order for there to be enough recorded audio in existence worth sampling for an album — The Avalanches finally released Wildflower, their highly anticipated second full-length, last summer. With a creative process that drawn-out, one could be forgiven for thinking that The Avalanches might be looking to take a little time off from fiddling around with their samplers to focus on, I don’t know, eating pizza and napping, or something. Thankfully though, the band that has sampled more audio than I have spoken words in my life has just announced that they will be heading out on a headlining tour of North America…their first one…EVER.
Granted, the dates aren’t extensive, one of them is already sold out, and you’re pretty much screwed if you don’t live in a major city East of the Mississippi River (save for shows in Portland and British Columbia). But even still; this may be your only chance to see The Avalanches live, before their third LP comes out in 2048, in the midst of Barron Trump’s second term. And who knows how much of North America will be habitable, let alone have the infrastructure to host a concert by then! It’s better than nothing, people!
