Classically-trained harpist and experimental music auteur Sarah Pagé is about to release her very first full-length album, a recording of one unaltered performance Dose Curves. Out on October 11 via Backward Music, the LP is preceded now by its final single “Lithium Taper” and a gorgeous video companion piece shot in Iceland and edited by filmmaker Kyoka Tsukamoto.
Based in Montreal, Pagé has loaned her talent on songs and albums by The Barr Brothers, Esmerine, Joni Void, and others. A “tribute to the many moods and colours of the harp,” her solo music nevertheless transcends what we commonly associate with avant-garde harp composition, frequently employing real-time electronic sound manipulation and noise.
Following more traditional “Stasis” and “Ephemeris Data,” the new single is a testament to Pagé’s experimental ambitions: a vignette of heavily-processed ambient choral music, perfectly complemented by the grainy rolling take of the Icelandic scenery of the video.
