Back To The Future soundtrack to see anachronistic vinyl release — you know, in celebration of the future?

Well, I’m gonna be honest with you: I exclusively only EVER listen to music via the Apple Music app streaming to my Apple Watch. But according to this website called Modern Vinyl, the soundtrack to the classic 1985 film Back To the Future soundtrack is FINALLY being pressed in a format truly worthy of its hip-to-be-square 1985-ness: Stainless steel!

Ha. No, it’s not being pressed to stainless steel. That would be too awesome. It’s coming out on fucking picture-disc vinyl. Observe: “In celebration of the film’s future travel date of October 21, 2015 [a.k.a. the date Marty, Doc, and Jennifer time-travel their asses to in the 2nd movie], the BTTF trilogy is getting a big reissue campaign, featuring Blu-Ray, special packaging and even a vinyl reissue of the original’s soundtrack. The first film’s OST will actually be released on a picture disc on October 16.” And actually, according to The Vinyl Factory, the soundtrack — which consists of the Huey Lewis MEGAJAM “Power of Love” surrounded by a bunch of other nonsense — was only released in its entirety in 2009. So this is all happening kinda fast, all things considered.

Either way, if you’re feeling jazzed up by this “heavy” news, there’s a whole bunch of celebratory junk happening in honor of that impending October 21, 2015 date that you can check out, including exclusive screenings and whatnot. Me? I’m just going to stream “The Power of Love” as many times as I want whenever I want, for free, while I skitch a cop or two… and call it a night.
