Minneapolis-based, jazz-with-a-soft-j trio The Bad Plus kinda screwed themselves when they named their most recent release on eOne Music Never Stop. Sure, this may be their first release comprised entirely of their own original material, but that doesn’t mean they won’t get sick and tired of it while they’re criss-crossing the wintery US like John Candy and Steve Martin.
Besides, with a tour that extends from December 2 and barrels along pretty much nonstop through January 9, including a six-night New Year’s Eve stint at the Village Vanguard in New York City, these guys are going to miss damn near every holiday in the book. Have fun never stopping, guys. Me? I’ll be turning up the heat in my parents’ hot tub while watching X-mas-themed porn and supping on fine ham. Good country ham, too. Not that no-good, cookie-cutter “city ham,” with its Diet Dr. Peppers and step aerobics classes… bah!
