The Beatles to release deluxe 50th anniversary reissue of The White Album, as if it wasn't deluxe enough already
Finally..."Rocky Raccoon"...in GLORIOUS HI DEF!

Because you can never have too much of an impossibly good thing: the Beatles (or whichever android robots have their brains inside them) have announced that their paradigm-shift-shifting 1968 self-titled double album — known to everyone who’s not a total L7 simply as The White Album — will be reissued later this fall as a glorious 4xLP deluxe edition featuring 27 previously unheard demo tracks.

According to The Vinyl Factory, this LUX-ASS reissue (which commemorates the illustrious album’s Golden Jubilee) will be released as both a 4xLP box set and a CD box set — as well as a standard 2xLP and CD edition — and a set of “50th anniversary lithograph prints” will also be available.

This new-and-improved Whiter Than White Album was “half-speed cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios” and, in addition to those 27 extra demos (originally tracked by the band at George Harrison’s house in Esher, Surrey back in May of 1968), it’ll also feature “new stereo mixes of all thirty tracks made by the son of original producer George Martin and sourced directly from the original four-track and eight-track session tapes.” And for all you dads out there with CD players in your Subarus: the CD edition of the reissue will also include 50 session takes!

Yes, I know. Just like the original White Album, it’s…a lot to take in. But the good news is, you’ve got a little time. Each of these delicious savoir truffles will see release on November 9 and can be pre-ordered at your stolid, British leisure right over here. You can also check out all the various tracklistings and lithograph prints over there as well.

For now, just watch this teaser video down below, and dream of what might be…
