Björk has briefly descended to Earth again — approaching us with a muted grace that recalls the ever-pirouetting cosmos and the bodily calm of a deep breath — to offer up some details on the bonus disc for Biophilia, which is only a week or two away from worldwide release (October 10… you do the math). Originally thought to be a data disc containing hundreds and hundreds of rare Björk, Thom Yorke, Tricky, and Tagaq jpegs over the years, the bonus disc now turns out to be a group of songs recorded during her six-date residency at Manchester’s Campfield Market Hall this past summer.
Since Björk had a few new items specially commissioned for these performances (digitally controlled pipe organ, pin-barrel harp, gamelan-celeste hybrid, 30-foot pendulum harnessing the Earth’s gravitational pull), the set is rather Biophilia-centric, but a few tracks from her other albums show up here and there too, so your nostalgia pleasure centers won’t have to miss a beat. Speaking of nostalgia, remember the good old days when you preordered the ultimate edition or at least the manual edition of Biophilia? Because this bonus disc is only offered in those two packages, and they’re both already SOLD OUT AHAHAHA NO EXTRA TRACKS FOR THE HOI POLLOI, POOR PEOPLE ARE SUCH JOKES!!!!!!
