Come 2012, spring ‘bout to get sprung. So when you’re booking your yearly vacation to Barcelona and Porto, make sure you leave room in your boozy itinerary for Primavera Sound. Björk, Jeff Mangum, Yo La Tengo, freshly reunited slowcore heroes Codeine, Neon Indian, and Other Lives will all be on hand for both the San Miguel Primavera Sound festival (May 30-June 3) and the new addition of Optimus Primavera Sound (June 7-10) in Porto. And if you’re thinking, “Well, that’s cool, but what about Guided by Voices?” The most legendary of their lineups will be on hand in Barcelona, showcasing new material off their upcoming album due in early January. More lineup announcements can be expected, but so far so bueno.
So what’s the hold up?? You should be clicking over to Primavera Sound to book your 160€ ticket ($219.76 US bones, plus booking fee), which is at a special price through November 30. Don’t you want to see Mangum in front of millions? It’ll be even bigger than his performance at Occupy Wall Street. Don’t you want to see Björk wear a ginormous orange wig and get all biophiliac on you? Don’t you want to see Guided by Voices be their badass amazing selves? And wouldn’t you rather say you did this all with a Catalonian flair, while your sorry ass friends were pathetically downing another PBR?
