Take your abstraction and shove it. Sometimes you just want someone to give it to you straight, which is exactly why we keep Blitzen Trapper around. While the rest of you are beating around the bush with your longwinded album titles that try to suggest a particular abstract, intangible feeling, Blitzen Trapper tell you exactly what they’re doing. They’ve got a new album coming out October 1, their first for Vagrant. It’s called VII, because it’s their seventh record. Did you even need the second part of that sentence? No, you did not. While the rest of you so-called bands are making avant-garde sculptures to promote your new records, Blitzen Trapper are doing things the old-fashioned way. They’re dusting off their hands and hitting the road, basically dusting off their feet in the process. Hell, I’m beating around the bush myself and that’s no way to behave in a Blitzen Trapper story. Blitzen Trapper, they’re going on tour for the fall. They’ll be touring the United States and that’s that.
