Bobby Birdman and YACHT are like two peas in a pod, having toured together previously with their similar brand of Pacific NW-style funky art pop. Now, these two will share a van on a month-long trek across Canada and the US, starting off in Vancouver on February 19 and finishing in LA on March 26. As part of this tour, YACHT (Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans) will feature a brand-new backing band called The Straight Gaze, which will also include Birdman, Jeff Brodsky, and Reuben Snyder.
Both Birdman and YACHT saw releases of their most acclaimed full-length records last year, with Birdman’s New Moods (TMT Review) on Fryk Beat and YACHT’s See Mystery Lights (TMT Review) on DFA. Therefore, it’s about time the two got out and promoted their 2009 releases.
