I know what you’re thinking. “Oh, Nobodaddy, there you are; I didn’t see any articles with your name on them last week and was so dang disappointed that I had half a mind to start dunking my donuts in Drano!” Well, first of all, that’s awesome; I’m totally flattered and a little turned on by that suicidal sentiment. And second of all, I wasn’t around because I was busy being an intrepid reporter out on the real streets of anytownsberg, Wisconsin, where I spent the better part of nine days tailing one Justin “Bon ‘Bonerizer’ Iver” Vernon. It’s true; I stuck to the man like glue and infiltrated all of his daily activities, from the fabric store grand-openings and daily beard-conditionings at the salon to the constant Skypes with Emma (they’re actually great friends) and High Teas with Kanye West.
And what kinda dirt did I dig up on my mission? Well, primarily, I learned that “Bon Iver” isn’t just a clever skewing of the ubiquitous concept of a bonny Scottish bear that we all thought it was after the Grammys; rather, it’s actually a French phrase that translates to “Bon Scott Forever, Brian Johnson Never.” Way less importantly, old boy has a shit ton of tourdates coming up this year for that one record of his that came out last year on Jagjaguwar. He’ll be hitting up just about every state in the union that has a wistfully named city in it, as well as some places in Europe that don’t yet know that he’s not Peter Gabriel. My guess is that those people probably won’t be disappointed.
