The Books teach us the three Rs with the announcement of remastered, repackaged reissues of previous albums

The Books are jerks. Their records are cool, and they know it. Their electro-acoustic brand of sample-heavy collage pop is always heralded (rightfully so) as “totally unique,” which is another way of saying that you and I could never have thought of it. And just in case you weren’t thinking about how you could never have thought of it for a second, they just announced the reissue of their entire full-length catalog! Remastered from the original (already awesome) mixes by Nick Zammuto himself, Temporary Residence, Ltd. plans to release CD and LP versions of The Books’ first three albums in chronological order early next year. Starting with Thought for Food on January 25, continuing with The Lemon of Pink on February 22, and finishing with Lost and Safe on March 22, each album will come packaged in brand new artwork and will also include a booklet of their “you-never-coulda-thought-of-these” lyrics. Great!

In other news, the group has three dates left on its North American tour in support of this year’s also-excellent The Way Out (TMT Review) before they jet off to Australia in 2011, just to stick it to me for having to live through another winter in Chicago like a sucker.
