GOOD MORNING [afternoon]! Listen up: The Breeders have released their first new material in 8 years in anticipation of their upcoming European and North American tour dates. “Wait in the Car” is as unstoppably buoyant as the best tracks from their nearly three-decade long career. Driving guitars, drums, and bass courtesy of the group’s classic, Last Splash-era lineup (i.e. Kim and Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson) lay the foundation for a whole satisfying bunch of those patented Deal-brand off-kilter harmonies and irreverent declarative statements that fans know and love.
The single will be included as part of a series of three limited edition 7-inch records. It’s out now on 4AD, but a special orange pressing of “Wait in the Car” paired with a cover of Düül’s “Archangel Thunderbird” — recorded in world-famous Chicago, IL by world-famous Steve Albini — will be available at shows starting on the world-famous date of October 15. The subsequent releases are also slated to include…some cover songs?…Along with…possibly…some other, soon-to-be-world-famous original compositions? Sorry, some of the details haven’t quite been buffed-out just yet. (It’s Kim Deal, you guys.)
