Have you heard the good word? Cannibal Ox have returned. In 2001, Cannibal Ox put out their debut album The Cold Vein. It was, for a very long time, their only album. Over the following dozen-plus years, CanOx stayed dormant, its two members releasing a handful of solo albums and sporadically eking out new tracks. Dormant, that is, until this year, in which the Ox made a full-fledged return with an honest-to-god sophomore album Blade of The Ronin. History lesson over.
Like a raging oni, Cannibal Ox have made their furious return to both the Western Hemisphere and the world of recorded music, but what of the Eastern Hemisphere? Do they know Cannibal Ox are back? If they don’t, well, they’ll know soon enough. The duo is heading to that most eastern of hemispheres next month, for a string of dates in Europe and the UK. Once those dates are concluded, perhaps we’ll all meet back in 2029 for CanOx LP3.
