Tape Loops? That’s what they oughta have called every Death Cab For Cutie album I had when I was 17! Just looping those bad boys over and over again, playing those suckers on repeat. Transatlanticism’s over? Start that cowboy up again!
I’m just kidding. It was 2004 when I was 17, so tapes were neither a viable mainstream medium nor had they experienced their niche revival of recent years. And, really, it’s hardly relevant, because Tape Loops is just the name of the upcoming record by Chris Walla, who’s not even in Death Cab For Cutie anymore. (Sorry to bring up the past, Chris!)
Let’s move from the past to the future: Chris Walla is releasing a new solo album, as previously established to be titled Tape Loops, on October 16 through Trans Records. The album collects five instrumental soundscapes built from physical tape loops. That explains the title, Tape Loops!
