CoH to supplant hot yoga with upcoming MUSIC VOL. on Editions Mego

Well, maybe we should’ve figured that a guy who has a professional relationship with Richard Chartier would eventually release an album centered around “concepts of silence and sound in a profound sense.” And maybe if people in general appreciated just how bombarded they are with noise on a daily basis, the microsound genre itself would be overwhelming the air and internet waves, until boycotts abounded due to the confusion between what’s actually being aired and whether our electronics are just subtly malfunctioning/uprising. Those tiny beeps could conceivably be your blender communicating with your TV remote. It’s a conspiracy of juicers!

Ivan Pavlov’s newest release as CoH doesn’t seem to be minimal enough to inspire technological paranoia, but judging from the almost suspenseful sample track below, it’s clear that we at least have an album of introspection on our hands. MUSIC VOL. comes out April 1 on Editions Mego, and according to the label description, it would be missing the point to play each track on the road with the windows open. Instead, “it is these gentle, silent tones that force us to pay attention to the inner qualities of each sound, it’s colour and vibration, while simultaneously revealing its tactile and corporeal qualities.”

Again, not with the windows open. A quiet room’ll do if you can’t find an anechoic chamber.
