Colin Meloy announces his first solo tour in five years, admits to past use of performance-enhancing thesauruses

Are you… intellectual? Do you know what the word “mawkish” means off the top of your head? Do you like the way Random House’s book binding glue smells a little more than Double Day’s? Are you thinking to yourself right now, “that’s a trick question, Nobodaddy, because everyone knows that Random House totally owns Double Day?” Great! Then this-here Colin Meloy solo tour is probably right up your old-timey, nine-pin bowling alley.

The Decemberists frontman has recently announced that he’ll be heading out for his first solo jaunt across the US since 2008 (he’s recently been devoting quite a bit of his time and energy to The Wildwood Chronicles, a series of kids’ books that he and his wife co-created.) But now he’s back in the singin’-songwritin’ saddle, complete with a new EP of cover songs that he recorded special for this tour that will comprise the fourth volume of a running series of these tour EP things called Colin Meloy Sings… (the previous three paid homage to the likes of Morrissey, Shirley Collins, and Sam Cooke).

So… yeah. I guess that’s it. If any of that stuff sounds good to you, here’s the cities he’ll be in. Along with the days he’ll be in them.
