Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right? So, by now, your heart is basically just a slobbering, love-starved puppy dog that’s jonesing for any/all new content from Japanese city-pop genius Keigo Oyamada a.k.a. Cornelius. Luckily, after releasing his first new album in over a decade this year, Oyamada’s back to full-speed: he’s going on tour. He’s just released a live video. He’s got three 7-inch singles coming to the states. And that aforementioned new album? It’s got a limited edition coming to LP and cassette tape near you. Rejoice!
But just in case you aren’t titillated enough by all this good stuff, you definitely will be when you check out his live performance of the Mellow Waves cut, “Helix / Spiral.” Oyamada is famous for his stellar visuals at live shows, which utilize lights and robotic animations as carefully choreographed accents to his plunderphonic sampling, and you can get real good taste of that below.
You want more? (You totally want more.) Well, you can get more at any of his North American tour dates listed below. Or, if you can’t make one of those (sorry), you can still order either the limited edition or the regular edition of Mellow Waves right now! Then, keep an eye out for the “limited imports” of the “If You’re Here,” “Sometime / Someplace,” and “In a Dream” 7-inch singles, which hit retailers THIS FRIDAY (November 17). Just remember to pace yourself, and try not to drool over all that beautiful content.
