WOO-HOO! Now that Memorial Day 2016 is officially in the books, summer has o-fficially “arrived,” and I can finally RELAX my prose-style. Thank GAWD. Let’s DO this:

Anyway, so, like, NBD or anything guys, but just to letcha know, Cymbals Eat Guitars have announced their, like, I dunno, fourth friggin’ album or some shit (and the follow-up to 2014’s LOSE, and all that junk). The newest — and, ya know, automatically more-relevant album is called Pretty Years. It comes out September 16 on the Sinderlyn label or whatevs and was produced by A-list indie producer-guy John Congleton or whoevs.

“We wanted to make a more energetic record,” sez bassist Matthew Whipple of the new album. “I personally looked to artists like Springsteen, ’70s Bowie, The Smiths, The Cure, Neil Young as inspiration for — not really for sound as much as for that dichotomy of bands who were entertainers still making, at times, weird dark music and writing songs that seem totally over-the-top by today’s rock band standards.” While singer/guitarist Joseph D’Agostino chimes in w/ “With this record… I think we nailed it this time. First or second takes of everything, real hunger in the performances. Just something to prove.” DAY-UM, right???

Oh shit, and you’ll never guess what else, though. Yup: you can totes pre-order the album on a variety of kick-ass and durable-as-fuck formats right now from Sinderlyn. And! You can listen to the album’s first single, “Wish” — a funky stomp of a track that features as much skronky SAX as every other halfway-decent rock song OUGHTA HAVE — down below. So what’cha waiting for? Get there. Do it. Peace OUT.
