I’m no physicist, but I’m pretty sure a dead wave is just water. And to take that thought and run with it, Mute’s latest signing, On Dead Waves, is very aptly titled if its debut song “Blackbird” is any guide.
The hot-off-the-presses single is a deep and fluid affair that calls to mind the golden age of Nick Cave, when he bludgeoned Kylie Minogue to death (in song form) and all those dark masters of music who laid the foundations for him to waltz across. Think moody, poetic, and menancingly sedate, or just check out the video below.
