If you think you would like a band that features Anton Newcombe (The Brian Jonestown Massacre), ace actress and songstress Emmanuelle Seigner, and Lionel and Marie Limiñana (The Limiñanas), then we have some (s)words for you! This supergroup of sorts does indeed exist. And it is called L’Epee. And it will be releasing its debut album in August!
Diabolique — named as a tribute to Mario Bava’s 1968 campy cliché-rich cult classic Danger: Diabolik — is out on August 13 on Newcombe’s A Recordings and features both an array of diverse styles over its ten tracks (skuzzy proto-punk, Sixties rave-ups, yé-yé cool) and a powerful overarching musical unity that is not surprising given these four frequent collaborators.
Allez tout de suite below and check out the swinging soundz of first single “Dreams” and the video for “Last Picture Show.”
