Dedekind Cut collaborates with Alex Zhang Hungtai, releases "American Zen" on vinyl, announces tour with Julius Eastman cover

Dedekind Cut was probably the single greatest producer to release an album packaged with a yoga mat in 2016. Yoga mat notwithstanding, DC’s album $uccessor and preparatory EP American Zen signified a pretty auspicious entry into the world of ambient electronica for the producer formerly known as Lee Bannon. While he certainly isn’t dwelling on the highs of 2016, as evidenced by his excellent EP from last month called The Expanding Domain (which has just chalked up a mention in our First Quarter Favorites feature), Dedekind Cut has just announced a limited release of his American Zen EP on vinyl.

You’ve probably already worn out your digital copy of that record, so to sweeten the deal, the EP is being packaged with a bonus single called “Я подарю тебе мир / ill give you the world,” which is a collaboration between Dedekind Cut and Alex Zhang Hungtai (f.k.a. Dirty Beaches). You can purchase it now as a standalone or as part of the double vinyl EP when it releases on April 21. Like all of Dedekind Cut’s physical releases, the vinyl version of American Zen is strictly limited to 400 plain old black and 200 colorful copies. So pre-ordering is recommended if you don’t want to have to mortgage your house to buy a copy on Discogs come December.

Meanwhile, Dedekind Cut has just announced a North American tour in support of American Zen, including dates with Sondre Lerche. The announcement comes via an “ebook tour poster,” which also includes a download of Dedekind Cut’s cover of “Evil Nigger” by Julius Eastman. Dates can be found here, while the ebook is available with the American Zen download, so do what you gotta do.
