So much Deerhoof news! First off, Deerhoof has announced the upcoming release of a limited-edition clear blue vinyl 7-inch collaboration with David Bazan, properly titled DeerBazan. The record will include David Bazan-penned lyrics sung over instrumentation by Deerhoof, will be released by Polyvinyl Records on January 17, and will be kept to a meager 2,000 copies. It’s the latest in a series of collaborative 7-inches that has included Busdriver, Jeff Tweedy, and Xiu Xiu. The A-side features the Deerhoof vs. Evil (TMT Review) track “No One Asked to Dance,” and the B-side features the Bazan classic “Gas and Matches.”
Next up, Deerhoof’s seminal album Reveille (no. 6 on TMT’s Favorite Albums of 2000-2009 list) is getting the heavyweight 180 gram light blue vinyl reissue treatment it deserves, courtesy of Polyvinyl. The 7-inch and the reissue are available for pre-order now solo, or as package deals.
Lastly, this news goes out to all the Asia-Pacific Deerhoof fans. The San Fran-based group will be hopping across the Pacific to embark on a tour covering a major swath of Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Deerhoof are relentless tourers and never disappoint, so check them out — who knows when they’ll be in Jakarta next!
