Things have been oddly quiet on the Deerhunter news frontier as of late. One could even say that the Deerhunter news frontier (trademark pending) has been… fading. But don’t look now… wait, actually do look now, RIGHT now, because Deehunter have emerged with some brand new Deerhunter-centric news!
The band announced today that they will be playing two intimate shows in New York in May, before heading off to Europe for a tour of varying degrees of intimacy. A new fancy tour is just the tip of the iceberg though, with mysterious promises being made of a new lineup playing new songs. Apparently, one of those songs will be released in mid-summer as a new single ahead of a new album that has no release date or title, but presumably features (1) Deerhunter’s new lineup playing (2) new songs, which includes (3) their upcoming mid-summer single that is (4) on the new album this list is about.
Who is in this new lineup? What instruments will they be playing? What will these new songs sound like? The band’s new Twitter account indicates that the lineup will be vaguely human-shaped and will play what appear to be “musical instruments,” but there’s no indication of what anything will sound like. Seems the only way to know for sure is to catch Deerhunter live when they come to a city near some of you this spring.
