In July 2009, The Dismemberment Plan’s principal songwriter Travis Morrison posted on his website: “RETIRED! No shows, no records, no band. Just relaxing in Brooklyn.” By the end of 2010, however, The Dismemberment Plan had officially reformed, announced the vinyl reissue of Emergency & I, booked an East Coast tour, manufactured some wares (see above), “got with it” (1, 2, 3), and even landed themselves a spot on the I-guess-it’s-maybe-sorta-kinda-indie Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
In fact, their nationally televised performance on Fallon just aired! Performing E&I tracks “The City” and “What Do You Want Me to Say?” (the latter of which being a web-only performance), The Dismemberment Plan are now officially all up in our grills again. Check out the nerve-wracked performance of “The City” and then “What Do You Want Me to Say?” below. And word has it that the group performed a second bonus song, which will likely come sometime tomorrow.
Meanwhile, peep D-Plan’s newly expanded reunion dates below, which now sees the group bringing their cute little tunes to Japan, Chicago, and Seattle.
