Stop your footworkin’ for a fucking minute! Lit City, the new footwork/juke/etc. label founded by DJ Rashad, J-Cush, and DJ Spinn, has just revealed details of its first release. As we mentioned back in February, the album is a 20-track monster called TEKLIFE Vol. 1: Welcome to the Chi by the one and only DJ Rashad. For a producer who makes tracks nearly every day, it’s kinda hard to believe that this release will mark Rashad’s first album since the now-classic Just A Taste Vol. 1 (TMT Review), which made it to #20 on our 2011 year-end list (#1 on mine though!).
Several of the tracks from TEKLIFE Vol. 1 were featured on the We Trippy Mane Mixtape Pt. 1 released early last month. You can also check out more tracks via Rashad and Spinn’s recent Just Jam session here. Hopefully these’ll tide you over until June 5, when Lit City releases the album digitally and on CD. And hey, look out for plenty more from Lit City soon, too, including releases by DJ Spinn, DJ Manny, Traxman, and other producers affiliated with the Ghettoteknitianz crew. And yes, there’ll be some vinyl!
