As previously reported, every musical artist on the face of the Earth aside from Built To Spill has been booked to perform at this year’s FYF Fest (or “Fuck Yeah Fest Fest” if you’re nasty); Iggy Pop, Nine Inch Nails, Missy Elliott…they’re ALL confirmed to be there. But, alas; NO SIGN of poor old Doug Martsch and his “rock band” Built To Spill. But actually…
Hey! Down here! I’m typing super small because I have a secret to tell you. You have to promise though, you have to keep it a secret. Promise? Okay, check this out: Built To Spill have been added to the FYF Fest lineup, and they’re playing their 1999 classic Keep It Like A Secret in full. Did you hear me? Built To Spill have been added to the FYF Fest lineup, and they’re playing their 1999 classic Keep It Like A Secret in. full. Hello? Are you even listening?
I said Built To Spill have been added to the FYF Fest lineup, and they’re playing their 1999 classic Keep It Like A Secret in full!
Oh, god dammit. Now Doug Martsch is going to kick my ass…Well, no sense in trying to keep it under wraps now. Yes, Built To Spill have been added to FYF Fest’s Saturday lineup, and they will be performing Keep It Like A Secret in its entirety, front-to-back, side-to-side, upside-down, and inside-out, to show you folks what it’s all about. They join a day that is headlined by Frank Ocean, and also features the likes of Perfume Genius and A Tribe Called Quest, among many others. (Again, this whole lineup is pretty stacked.)
FYF Fest is going down July 21-23 at Exposition Park in Los Angeles. Get yourself in the proper headspace for Built To Spill’s Keep It Like A Secret performance by watching a video of them performing album opener “The Plan” on HBO, circa 1999, down below. The video probably violates some sort of copyright law, but what do I care? I need to hop the next train car out of this Podunk town if I want to stay one step ahead of that bloodthirsty Martsch…
