You kids out there are still familiar with Radiohead, right? Still dancing to “Idioteque” at roller rinks on the weekends and creepily making-out to “Just” in dorm rooms and whatnot?
Okay, good. Because Belgian neoclassical group Echo Collective haven’t forgotten about Radiohead, either. And more specifically, they haven’t forgotten about Amnesiac, Radiohead’s relatively overlooked follow-up to Kid A. And to commemorate their distinct lack of Amnesiac-amnesia, they’ll be releasing Echo Collective Plays Amnesiac — a full-length reimagining of that entire album — next month to help remind YOU of its slightly underrated excellence.
No strangers to avant-garde pop, The Echo Collective’s members have collaborated with Stars of the Lid, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, and Jóhann Jóhannsson, among others. The Amnesiac rework is part of a two album deal with the German label 7K!, which will see an album of the ensemble’s own compositions released at a later date.
Echo Collective Plays Amnesiac is out March 30, but you can pre-order it here and listen to the first track from the neoclassical ensemble’s rework, which combines the original’s “Hunting Bears” and “Like Spinning Plates”(everyone’s favorite Radiohead songs ever!) into one long-ish piece, down below.
Echo Collective Plays Amnesiac tracklist (duh):
01. Packt Like Sardines in a Crushed Tin Box
02. Pyramid Song
03. You and Whose Army?
04. I Might Be Wrong
05. Knives Out
06. Morning Bell/Amnesiac
07. Dollars & Cents
08. Hunting Bears – Like Spinning Plates
