To reiterate, you might’ve seen a number of Hyperdub family members walking around Times Square wearing I <3 NYC shirts recently, but that doesn’t mean that the label’s London headquarters is being left empty and open to potential blaggers for the entirety of summer 2016. Londoner Endgame was just signed to the label, and he’s certainly announcing his UK presence with the announcement of Flesh, his debut EP on the Steve Goodman-run outfit. The EP, which follows the excellent Savage release from earlier this year, is out July 22, and it follows some waves that Endgame’s been making in various corners of the absurdly large beat-forging scene. That’s the official name of the scene, right?
Such waves include mixes for the likes of the The FADER and FACT, releases for Golden Mist Records and Purple Tapes Pedigree, and a monthly NTS radio show called “Precious Metals” that he continues to host. The experience through the aforementioned has naturally led to an EP filled with track relatives to genuine reggaeton or the more ambiguous “riddim.” The title of the opening track should be a clear enough indication of the influence.
