When is somebody gonna step up and catch the Zodiac Killer? It’s pissing me off! After over 40 years, it seems like someone could’ve caught that idiot! Well, lauded Canadian hardcore outfit Fucked Up have a plan. See, throughout their career, the band has been putting out 12-inch singles corresponding to each year of the Chinese zodiac. They’re up to seven entries, the most recent one being this year’s Year of the Hare out through Deathwish. Generally, these songs are more experimental than Fucked Up’s album work, with songs stretching over 20 minutes.
Seeing that the Zodiac Killer just looooves the Zodiac so much, Fucked Up’s upcoming West Coast tour plans are, I think, a plot to lure him out. The group has scheduled eight shows later this month, in which they will play selections from the aforementioned Zodiac series. To properly perform these more-experimental works, they have expanded their lineup to a nine-piece, featuring members of DOOMSQUAD. Hearing about all this Zodiac material, the Zodiac Killer will be unable to resist attending each of these concerts. At that point, identifying the notorious serial murderer will be a snap. Another possibility is that the concerts have nothing to do with the Zodiac Killer whatsoever and that the group simply wanted to focus on their long-running singles series.
