Ghostface Killah and BADBADNOTGOOD announce collaborative record, Ghost reveals hidden talent as saxophonist

Earlier this year, legendary Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah teamed up with Toronto jazz trio/production outfit BADBADNOTGOOD for a 10-inch on Lex Records. The resulting song, “Six Degrees,” found the two acts meeting at a natural midpoint, with BADBADNOTGOOD’s playing adopting some Shaolin menace. Since then, the BADBADNOTGOOD + Ghostface Killah union has only grown stronger. As Consequence of Sound reports, the two acts have collaborated on a full-length album, Sour Soul, out February 17 through Lex Records. Exciting news made more exciting by the fact that the album will act as a showcase for Ghost’s rarely-stressed status as a world-class saxophonist.

Now. Let me stress that no media outlets or anyone from the Ghost or BADBAD camps have confirmed or even said anything suggesting that Tony Starks will play saxophone on this album. I am simply predicting that the logical endpoint of this partnership will come to be. The press release for the record does stress that the record, produced by Frank Dukes (known for work with Danny Brown, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, among others), features BADBADNOTGOOD forgoing sampling in favor of live instrumentation inspired by music from the 60s and 70s. In other words, Ghostface will totally be playing sax on this thing, right?

Check out Sour Soul track “Gunshowers” featuring Detroit rapper Elzhi below. The aforementioned “Six Degrees,” which also happens to feature a Detroit rapper, namely Danny Brown, will also appear on the record. You can hear that over here.
