A Giant Dog is a band that makes giant noises as big as its home state of Texas. We’re talking full-on, Stooges-level rock with associated shapes thrown in. As of this week, A Giant Dog’s double-vocal rock assault is officially endorsed by Merge Records, who will be recording the band’s forthcoming third album in early 2016.
While such news is usually accompanied with mutual fawning and pocket pissing, A Giant Dog are playing it cool, with lead vocalist Sabrina Ellis going on the record and declaring “we are shitty people who do not deserve to be signed to Merge… But we are down.” Meanwhile, her bandmate Andrew Cashen was even more nonplussed, simply stating in response to the news of the signing, “I don’t know. I’m thinking about cutting my hair into a man bun.”
